Miniscule Clouds

“A minuscule cloud, as tiny as the hand of a man, is ascending from the sea.” (1 Kings 18:44 VOICE)

After three years of drought, God’s word came to Elijah that rain was on the way. Elijah climbed up on a mountain and bowed down in prayer. He sent his servant to check for clouds, but there was nothing to report. Elijah kept praying and sending the servant back to observe for signs of God’s work in progress. After a while, the servant saw a miniscule cloud. As soon as Elijah heard this he knew change was in the atmosphere. That tiny cloud grew to cover the entire sky and there was a deluge of rain.

What are we to do when there are no discernable signs that God is working?

Do not despair. Do not be discouraged. Do not give up. Depend on God’s unfailing love. Continue praying in steadfast faith. Keep your eyes, ears, and mind open for God-signs. Do not discount even the most miniscule clouds. Thank God for every bit of encouragement. Praise Him for every tiny miracle. Trust in God’s providence. Wait patiently for the deluge of blessings.
